We’re fortunate to live in a time and place where opportunity abounds, a time when many women have come to the forefront, risen to the top and who are making that place count in a diverse range of important ways.

ignite gathers together these women, the game changers whose endeavours have altered industries, impacted economies, provided employment for myriads and who lever their commercial gains into philanthropic endeavours to make the biggest difference possible.

Most of all ignite facilitates an intimate environment so we can make meaningful  connections, be inspired and add the weight of our experience to make a bigger difference.

Hosted in the home of Co.OfWomen Board Member, Sharon Hunter, each IGNITE gathering features an interview and discussion with one of our experienced entrepreneurs facilitated by Co.OfWomen's eminent Chair, Theresa Gattung CNZM. This is followed by time for informal connecting and conversations.

Features Global Pioneer Kiri Nathan

We're delighted that the feature of this sessions interview will be long time member Kiri Nathan.

Kiri is a frontier dweller in the fashion world. Revered for the distinctive asthetic of her self-named fashion label, Kiri has successfully merged her passion for her Māori heritage with her love of fashion and with it a successful business. This cultural distinction is something she has received global recognition for and in addition is the first kiwi fashion designer selected to work with Walt Disney for the world premier reveal of MOANA. She is also pioneering opportunities into China and U.S markets by heading the first Māori Fashion Coalition with NZTE.

Kiri founded Kāhui Māori Fashion Collective to change the current silo culture of fashion to one of collaboration and genuine support. Kiri mentors emerging Māori talent and is committed to Māori fashion being recognised and valued, both nationally and internationally, for its cultural integrity, quality and unique point of difference.

Kiri holds a special place in the Co.OfWomen community as an advisor on the application of Māori elements to the New Zealand Hall of Fame for Women Entrepreneurs. She designed and wove the three unique kākahu (feathered cloaks) used to induct members each year and the Pounamu gifted to each inductee as a mark of their place in the Hall of Fame.
